I wake up at 7:15 and I'm legit tired and drowsy and I can't even bother to jump out of bed and dress myself but I thought twice and I realised that today it was athletics day so now I jumped out of bed.
I arrive at school at 8:35AM before the Athletics start so like that I can talk to my friends and have some rest.
At 8:50AM the bell goes to signal us that it's time for the Athletics to begin. The Year 6 boys ( in our grade ) start to line up alphabetical order to get ready to approach the field in the distance.
The activities that they have for Athletics is, Long Distance, Sprints, Hurdles, Throw/Shot-put, High Jump, and Long Jump, their is also an activity called relays but you need to have made the team. In Athletics There are four teams that compete against each other and those are, weka, Takahe, Kea, and Tui and they compete against each other to win the house cup. But how do they win the house cup, well in every sport activity you get given numbers from 1 - 4 and higher the number is the better it is. everyone gets a number for their house and then the staff calculate it all up and announce the scores and whatever house has the highest score, win the overall cup.
Our timetable sport activity for year 6 went like this, Long Distance, High Jump, Morning Tea break
, Shot-put/Throw, Hurdles, Lunch Time break, Sprints, Long Jump, then Relays.
We started off for long distance and I was real nervous, because usually I come 3rd or 4th in long distance but now they're a lot of people that are now faster than me so it will be real challenging.
The whistle blow and my feet startled and then I blast off and run, I run as hard as I can and I realise that I'm coming second but I can't waste all my energy because I won't be able to sprint at the end of the track. We loop around our school and now is the moment there's only 10 metres left and I'm almost beating one of the fastest people Jacob Booth and at the last second I bet him and crossed over the line with glee.
I had a great time at athletics day and that I tried hardest in every event and that we don't know what house has won yet but we'll find out in the past weeks for the update.
