My year in GRi11 2.0

Dear future Myself

At the start of the year I was a bit nervous entering my first ever year 6 class but it’s always what I tend to do ( be scared. ). I’ve had a blast with all my mates this year in GRi11 2.0 because I’ve had loads of fun with them and also with my teachers Miss Gordon and Mr Robertson. These teachers have helped me in my next learning steps that I could achieve in the next years and they
are great teachers, because they’re fun, they’re cool, they’re nice, and they provide you  some great learning.

When I was in GRi11 2.0 their teaching style was real weird and cool because we usually don’t learn in this type of style because we get to access in our class, bean bags, hammocks, couches, leaners, kidney tables, and a lot of furniture we’ve also got 3 rooms called, the hall of fame we’re you learn, the hangout we’re you communicate, the hideout, we’re you want to have some silence.

We had a computer for each when we first entered GRi11 2.0 which was real cool because you wouldn’t need to fight because someone stole your computer, ( which I tend to do ).

We’ve had great times like when Miss Gordon got a fright because a balloon popped and that miss gordon hates it when balloons pop.

When I was in Gri11 2.0 I was involved in, Touch Rugby, Ricoh Sevens, Swimming sports, Interclub Tennis, and Open Mic for winning a scholarship for music lessons for six months and I want to thank that one on my teacher Miss Gordon who created my voice astonishing and also me.

Also our class went to camp at sixtus lodge which was real cool experiencing it as a class and while we were there we went to the glow worm cave outside the Sixtus Lodge base at night. We also did a lot of tramping ( walking ) because there were tracks across the base which were real long which almost went to 6 hours of walking. There was a funny memory in Gri11 2.0 when I slept sung in my sleep at camp and my teachers caught it on tape showing it to the class which really embarrassed me.

Well it’s came to the end of my time in Gri11 2.0 and that I’ll miss Gri11 2.0 in every single way, and I’ll be the person crying because I miss my class, it’s been great being in Gri11 2.0 and I’ll have a great time in my P.N.I.N.S class just like In GRi11 2.0 see  you everyone, ka kite ano.

Well I am pretty sad to say that it’s the end of my journey at primary school and in my class Gri11 2.0, and today I’m going to explain my year in GRi11 2.0.

Our Culture Taking Action

On the 16th of November every student in Grill 2.0 have working on subject called taking action for our unit called Culture Diversity. My group for the taking action we're organising a Culture Festival with the food group. My mother is going to be involved for the festival and she's going to bake some french pastry called a french choux which is a succulent dish flavoured with whipped cream and ice cream and sugar on top. For the Culture Festival I will be doing advertisements on my food and some facts about France and beautiful posters on attractions around France.

Our Culture group have been working so hard on the culture festival day to get ready for it. On my posters I put photo's of the eiffel tower and Louvre museum and the castle of versailles where all the kings of France lived.

The festival will only be for Grill 2.0. The food group will be making, Fried Rice, Dumplings, Sushi, Tropical jelly, gingerbread man and much more great cultural dishes.

We decided to have a cultural festival because our school haven't been focusing on the principle of culture diversity which means working just on one culture while you can work on many different cultures so our class decided to have a cultural festival.

My trip to the Gold Coast Part One #7

On the 6th of July I wake out of bed and get dressed because I remembered for once that today we'll be going to Gold Coast today. I was super pumped up for it and I was so excited that I couldn't stop jumping around like a mad person.

We take our delicious breakfast and head off to our rooms to double check our suitcase to see if we've got everything in it. We head off to the airport and go to the check-in. We board our aircraft and have our safety procedure like always before takeoff and departure. in front of me I saw a inflight magazine, called Kia Ora which a great magazine because tells loads of stuff like winning wine awards and places in New Zealand that you can go to and also has stuff about Air New Zealand.

The plane zooms out in the air and is longer seen at the airport. The lovely Flight Attendant proposed me some water and fudge which was pretty nice, but that's the flight attendants job to keep people happy. The Captain announced that we'll be doing our descent towards Auckland and to make the descent a bit sweeter we got handed some Air New Zealand lollies.

We finally land on the runway smoothly and enter the domestic terminal.

Athletics Day #6

On the 9th of November our Athletics got held at our school. It's the big day and we're ready for it, we've trained weeks and weeks and now it's the day. it's now that we make ourselves proud because it's last year for me at primary school because next year I'm heading off to middle school.

I wake up at 7:15 and I'm legit tired and drowsy and I can't even bother to jump out of bed and dress myself but I thought twice and I realised that today it was athletics day so now I jumped out of bed.

I arrive at school at 8:35AM before the Athletics start so like that I can talk to my friends and have some rest.

At 8:50AM the bell goes to signal us that it's time for the Athletics to begin. The Year 6 boys ( in our grade ) start to line up alphabetical order to get ready to approach the field in the distance.

The activities that they have for Athletics is, Long Distance, Sprints, Hurdles, Throw/Shot-put, High Jump, and Long Jump, their is also an activity called relays but you need to have made the team. In Athletics There are four teams that compete against each other and those are, weka, Takahe, Kea, and Tui and they compete against each other to win the house cup. But how do they win the house cup, well in every sport activity you get given numbers from 1 - 4 and higher the number is the better it is. everyone gets a number for their house and then the staff calculate it all up and announce the scores and whatever house has the highest score, win the overall cup.

Our timetable sport activity for year 6 went like this, Long Distance, High Jump, Morning Tea break
, Shot-put/Throw, Hurdles, Lunch Time break, Sprints, Long Jump, then Relays.

We started off for long distance and I was real nervous, because usually I come 3rd or 4th in long distance but now they're a lot of people that are now faster than me so it will be real challenging.

The whistle blow and my feet startled and then I blast off and run, I run as hard as I can and I realise that I'm coming second but I can't waste all my energy because I won't be able to sprint at the end of the track. We loop around our school and now is the moment there's only 10 metres left and I'm almost beating one of the fastest people Jacob Booth and at the last second I bet him and crossed over the line with glee.

I had a great time at athletics day and that I tried hardest in every event and that we don't know what house has won yet but we'll find out in the past weeks for the update.

My Trip from Auckland to Cairns #5

When I jumped out of bed I went straight to the bathroom and dress myself at 6:00AM because the taxi was picking us up early to head over to the airport. We hop down to the reception place and then go to the restaurant and bar to eat our breakfast.

I ate some succulent breakfast with rice bubbles, toast and some juice. After Breakfast we head off into the taxi for Auckland Airport.

The taxi drops us at the international terminal and signals us goodbye. When we finished the check in we went to the immigration customs to confirm that we're leaving New Zealand. We settle ourselves once again in the Koru lounge to wait for the gate to open and start boarding. I ate some real delicious food in the lounge even though I already ate some breakfast.

The gate for Cairns was confirmed open so we scrambled ourselves towards gate 3 to board onto the aircraft. Our tickets get scanned and where off to board the aircraft. We enter the Airbus A320 and scramble ourselves to economy class to be seated. Before takeoff we had our safety procedures aboard the aircraft so like that we would be safe and ready to go. The plane vanishes in the clouds once again. Aboard the aircraft I watched one great movie which was, Maze Runner: Scorch trials, to me it was a great movie but also sad at the same time. We started to descend towards Cairns and while we were descending I saw the Great Barrier Reef in the distance of my window which was a stunning view.

We land at Cairns Airport and exit the aircraft and enter into the airport. As soon as we slip out of the airport, BANG a huge pile of hot wind collapses onto me and I wasn't surprise it was hot as because it's obviously Australia so you would be dying of to much heat but for me it was so hot that I was literally dying. We hop into our new car that we rented in Australia to travel to places that we would go to. The car starts up and departs onto the highway of Cairns but we weren't exactly staying at Cairns we were staying in a town a couple of miles away from Cairns called Port Douglas.

When we entered our hotel, ( the pullman resort ) I was stoked of how beautiful it was, it was basically a retirement village except with cooler features. I enter our appartement and for god sake we had a fan because it was to hard to handle the pressure of the sun it felt like you were getting roasted for dinner.

My brother and I were having some fun in the pool having great time squirting each other and playing games. At night we go down to the big pools and when I saw the pools my jaw collapsed to the ground after of what I saw, it was a pool city basically. After that we went back to our hotel appartement, to jump into our warm beds and sleep for the next day ahead of us.

My trip from Palmerston North to Auckland #4

On the 30th of September at 6:00 pm we got a call from Air New Zealand saying your flight has been delayed three hours. As soon as my dad heard it on the phone he stressed because the flight to Cairns would have been at 9:15am but the Palmerston North flight to Auckland was 30 minutes after the flight to Cairns would have taken off, so we had to think and problem solve what we could do.

Air New Zealand called us back for good news. The good news was that there was a flight today that could go to Auckland that would arrive at 12:00AM and also that Air New Zealand would pay us the flight. They also payed us a hotel at Auckland to stay for the next day.

We arrive at Palmerston North Airport and go straight to the check in for our flight to Auckland. It was 9:00PM when we arrived at the airport I was so drowsy and was about to collapse to the ground and sleep. We settle ourselves in the Koru lounge of Palmy. We hop down to the gate to get ready to hop into the plane for Auckland. We cross the tarmac to enter into the plane and the flight attendant greets me nicely aboard the plane. We had some safety procedure from the flight attendant before takeoff. When the plane is lined up with the runway the two propellors spin like blades spinning at millions of km per hour. The plane speeds up and the big metal bird flies and goes up into the clouds and vanishes without a single trace.

The Captain announces that the plane is going to descend to the runway of Auckland and had to turn off all electronic devices and stow them in the over head locker and to put tray tables back in possession. I hear the big aluminum wheels hop out of the planes wings and getting ready to land.

I see the beautiful lights of Auckland and the sky tower it looked stunning from the view of the window. I see the runway in the distance and every second coming towards it. The plane lands smoothly on the runway of Auckland international Airport. We arrive in the domestic terminal of Auckland Airport and wait in the parking area and wait for a taxi to pick us up to go to the hotel.

The taxi drives us off to Manakau to the Mercure hotel and sleep to get ready for the next day.  Image result for air new zealand atr 72

My Learning Achievements this year #3

This Year in our class Gri11 2.0 we've all learned a lot of things and today I won't to share my learning achievements I've had throughout the year. In the first term of school we all were introduced to a new modern way of learning. At the start of the year I needed support on my reading and all the workshops that my teachers have been on the subject shared reading or reading has really made me push my reading skills and achieving the bits reading i've been struggling with.

Term 1 we had a P.A.T reading test. A P.A.T test is a website called nzcer online where there are many different tests like maths test reading tests and many more other tests. We start our 45 minutes on the test. Throughout the test I was struggling with the questions and words they included and I couldn't seem answer them. At end of test I was pretty disappointed of my reading test and that I didn't give it an honest effort.

Now it's term 4 and it's almost the end of the year, and also that next year we're going to middle school so I have to give my best effort in the reading test. "It's the big moment now," I say, "it's the reading test, give every thing you've got use every skill of reading your teachers have taught you, remember to be yourself, to think hard and go hard," I repeat. We start our P.A.T test and the 45 minutes are underway once again. In the reading test I use every skill that I got taught this year and use them in the reading test successfully for the questions. Our teacher spits out the word times out and as soon the test was done I was so proud of how much I had improved from at the beginning of the year and I want to thank it to my teachers.

Open Mic 2016 #2

On the 19th of October 2016 I went to the Central Baptist Church for Open Mic. Open Mic is where every month you sing at the Central Baptist Church and a the end of the year you win scholarships like Open Mic scholarships and Performing Art scholarships.

This year for the 4th round of Open Mic I sung Dancing on My Own By Calum Scott. I decided the song because it suits my voice and that I would be confident to sing it on stage. Throughout the week I did practices with Miss Gordon before 8:00 in the morning or at Lunch times.

Today it's the big day it's a Tuesday Evening and it's my time to shine. After 2 singers from Open Mic it was my turn to take the stage and take it away. I was so nervous that the butterflies in my stomach were twitching every nanosecond. I start my First verse For my song and right after the first verse I get right into the song and sing at my hardest. After the song I was so stoked of my song while the audience were surprised of how good my singing was.

After 8:00 in the evening we have a ride straight to jump right into bed and getting ready for another big day ahead of me.

The Holiday that becomes a Nightmare #1

This story is based on true events

Mike was an ordinary eleven year old boy. His favourite game was soccer - he was always No.1 in his team.

On the 17th of July 2001, it was Mike's 12th birthday. On his birthday, when he bounced out of bed he knew something was different, because he didn’t see any presents in the living room or in his bedroom.

For a minute Mike was anxious. He didn’t know why there were no presents?

SURPRISE Mike!” yelled his Mum Angela.

Mike replied in surprise, “why are there no presents mum? It’s not normal.”

“Well” said Angela, “this year there will be no presents”

Mike’s jaw suddenly dropped to the ground with disappointment.

“Drumroll please………………..We’re Going to Los Angeles!”

Mike started saying “ We’re going to Los Angeles!
We’re going to Los Angeles!

Mike asked his mother, “what day is the flight!” “ on September the 11th 2001. What's the flight number said mike, the flight number is flight 11” said Angela.

         2 months later

Mike bounces out of bed like jumping off a trampoline.

He takes his shower gets dressed and he and his family is off to Los Angeles.

They arrive at washington dulles international airport to take their flight to Los Angeles.

Mike’s heart beats so fast like a jumbo jet zooming through at full speed without a single trace.

Mike’s family heads Into the plane and a soon as they walked into the plane he saw some men holding 2 knives in his pocket and then mike said to himself “who are these people.” Mike remained calm.

Mike was on the plane watching a movie and as soon as he was going to pause the movie and ate , he heard a screeching noise.

Mike’s heart stopped, he saw 4 men with guns and knives! Mike was lost he thought it was the end of the world and his last minutes on earth.

He saw the 4 men screaming at the flight attendants to let them in the cockpit.

And the first thing that came to mike’s mind was hijackers he couldn’t believe it. He started to hold Angela’s hand tight, like him squeezing a lemon.

        45 minutes later

People are screaming on board praying to still be alive but in mike’s point of view it was the end of the world for him.

He starts looking out the window saying “Mum it’s New York! Why says Angela’s Mum. Because I can see the statue of liberty.”

Angela says “ Wait why are we here.” Angela after says “ why are we heading towards two Big towers.” “oh ow” said mike, we’re heading towards the those towers.

            2 minutes later

Mike suddenly faints and bangs his head to his screen and suddenly the plane crashes and collapses into the North tower of New York and which is known as the world trade center.

Why are responses are so diverse

This term so far we have been learning about Cultural Diversity we've been given range of tasks like shared reading on the Mongolian national festival, we've also been given photo's of people around the world and make connections and make statements of how it's different to our culture. Well today we've had been given this writing task to finish off for the week and we had to write on how our responses are so diverse. First there is a table of responses from people around the globe about there opinions and statements, Here it is.

What connections can you make to the reading?

Read the responses below and write a paragraph explaining why you think the responses are so diverse.

In Singapore we celebrated Chinese New Year
I go and do horse riding
That we did archery at camp last year #2015
I am always wrestling my brother and making my own moves up.
It is kinda like Chinese New Year. The family gets together and the eldest person sits at the top of the table. We eat lots of yummy food and have lots of drinks. My mum and Dad work very hard. The Chinese culture also follows the Luna calendar like the Mongolian culture does.
The woman in this story is like my mum and my family every single day
in the first olympics women couldn't enter.
Cultural festival because there is heaps of activities.
It is like Chinese New Year because of all the activities and cooking and greeting.
none really
That Mongolia have national day like in France.
Once my mums friend was talking to a whole bunch of us at girls at girls rally. She told us some stories about some of her trips to different places. One of the stories she told was about a country where the women did all the work and the men don't do anything.
Some of it reminded me of celebrating Chinese New Year
We did archery at camp in 2015
My brother and i wrestle on the tramp
none to be honest
Some of those sports I am good at.
its like the olympics
Sumo wrestlers,my cousin is a horse rider,
there playing sport like i do but just difrent type of sport.
this is like christmas things like gift giving and all your family members coming to celabrate
Sumo wrestlers. I have watched hourse races and I have shot a arrow
sad
That the naadam festival is very important to there culture
That New Zealand do the sports what the the Naadam festival does
that i have done horse riding before
that we Celebrate new years day.
On New Years Eve we play games and have visitors
My Mum cleans the house and does chores and we have too help her.
My mum cooks and cleans all day
That a while ago women in New Zealand never competed in the olimpics.
I don't have a connection
sometimes i have to do chores
there is a game on the computer and it’s a resaling game and each level you complete you get called something new
They have a lot of events like our athletics day
The Naadam festival is linked to the greek olympics cause woman aren't allowed to participate.
I have done archery
It is like a mini Olympics
we kill sheep we clean the house and we greet people when they come to our house
Not much.
my aunty is a rider

Why are our responses so diverse?

Our responses are so diverse because we have different cultures and religions that’s why we are so diverse. Some of us have the same responses like if they’re in the same country or have the same culture. We are all different and none of us are the same or act the same each and one of us are different. Some of our cultures are diverse, some of them are the same like mongolia have the same national day as france and they’re both in July.

Hieroglyphic Narrative

Once there was a boy called Twisted Flax Wick. He’s always been an ordinary boy like any other. He likes to do bush walks, because he’s got a bush walk, Right against his house. He also likes playing uno with his friends at Port Douglas. Twisted Flax Wick’s dad who is called (th) is a businessman that works in Cairns, north of Queensland in Australia.

“Well” Says Twisted Flax Wick heavily pumped. Wouldn’t it be a great day to go for a bush walk in the Mossman Gorge. “Dad” Says Twisted Flax Wick. Could I please go to the Mossman Gorge right against our house!? “Sure” replies th. “ But I have to be back by noon okay son!” Repeats his dad .

Twisted Flax Wick vanishes inside the forest without a single trace. After he starts walking in the heavenly beautiful Mossman Gorge. He hears an odd sound and surprises him. He suddenly thought “what’s that” says Twisted Flax Wick. He starts to have a shiver running down his spine when he walks. He starts to twitch and his hands start to sweat. After a minute he realised that it was a turkey in front of him calling to another turkey from the other side of the forest.  “ For god sake” says Twisted Flax Wick “ that was nothing to be scared of, for god sake” he repeats. Later throughout the day Twisted Flax Wick is far from home and it seems to get dark for some reason, he asks himself, “ how could it be so dark at this time!?” Says Twisted Flax Wick. “ wait, where's my watch I forgot damn it this can’t be happening, NOOOOOOOO.” Huh, Sighs Twisted Flax Wick. My dad is going to kill me, why didn’t I bring my watch before, never mind, sighs Twisted Flax Wick once again. He stops walking, and turns back and follows the track back home. “ AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH” says  Twisted Flax Wick. It took Twisted Flax Wick hours to realise that he had broken his arm by tripping up from a big stone and colliding and face planting onto the ground. He starts walking back home with his arm rested on his stomach.

2 hours later

“Oh my god I’ve been walking for ages now it’s been 3 hours.” He realised he was walking the wrong track since two hours. “Oh no this can’t be happening I can’t be lost in this rainforest.” says Twisted Flax Wick.

Six Months Later

Twisted Flax Wick has been in the forest for six months now and was lucky enough to have water and food, but now he’s ran out of food in his bag and he needs to find a way for survival.

He’s been walking around bushes slashing through the forest. It’s been hours now and lucky for him he found some Chicken breast in a basket with two reed leaf covered on the edges of the basket. He was also was lucky because right against the basket there was 5 bottles of water filled with 4.5 litres. Anyways Twisted Flax Wick had 7 water bottles when he had departed from home ages ago. Twisted Flax Wick Starting gobbling up the chicken breast in a matter of second, like a fussy eater that had a bon appetite. Seconds later Twisted Flax Wick wasn’t so lucky because there was a vulture that catched his basket and flew off vanishing in the sky without a single trace.

“Damn it” says Twisted Flax Wick. “I had a chance to eat some food cause I was suffering from starvation.”  “Huh” sighs Twisted Flax Wick. “ I just have wished rescuers could have found me, wait, there could be a manhunt at the moment, probably it’s me, I gotta sign S.O.S right now to anyone.  Twisted Flax Wick suddenly sees a helicopter flying across the trees and meanders off to another section.

Twisted Flax Wick sprints for his life, chasing the helicopter with his broken arm but suddenly he trips and collapses to the ground and face plants. He realised that he was in a mini lake with waves that meanders off to a waterfall. The other problem was that Twisted Flax Wick’s leg was broken which was a combo of injuries for him. “No” says Twisted Flax Wick “ not a combo of injuries it’s unfair, come on” he says. After a couple of minutes a rescue helicopter spots Twisted Flax Wick before he got rescued by the rescue helicopter.

He is safe back home with his dad th now. His father's tears collapses to the ground making a flood after the months of his poor sons adventures without help. Twisted Flax Wicks point of view was that it was a massacre after months lost in a rainforest in the middle of nowhere. His dad gave Twisted Flax Wick a bouquet of flowers including a reed leaf, for a memory.

The End

Monday, September 19, 2016

The little boy who wanted to make a change.

Once there was a little Merman called Arman. He was a Merman like any other. He lived in a place under the sea surface called Mastol. He liked to swim and play hide and seek with his friends, Aryan, Mike, Fletcher, Mimosa, Kylie, and Katie.

On the 18th of March, Arman wakes up and rushes up to the surface of the sea. He realises that there was a whole ton of rubbish! He suddenly thought, “How could anyone do this kind of thing, they must be so selfish.” He thought to himself.

A young man walks past the polluted lake and throws a piece of rubbish right at Arman’s face.  “Hey, what the hell do you think you’re doing!!??.” The Young man replies, “what in what in, where do you come from?” says the man. “I’m a Merman man like any other, says Arman. And you, what on earth are you guys doing to our beautiful lake! “Well” says the man, “it’s been like this for a long time and I’m pretty sure you must have realised it a long time ago youngster, anyways that’s enough questions for the day!” “And” he repeats, “that in a couple of months this lake will have vanished! A small shiver runs down Arman’s and disappears into the lake.

“ Where have you been dear we have been looking for you for ages!” “Mum” says Arman. “Do you know that at the surface of the sea there is a lot of rubbish! Her mum replies, “Everyone here in Mastol knows about it dear we’ve had it for a long time now.” “Well I never knew!” said Arman. “Son” says his mother, “we’re not gonna be here for long! In a matter of months we’ll be outta here, because we will never survive with rubbish like this!” “Then where will we live” replies Arman. “We don’t know, this is maybe the end of our lives but we’ve gotta keep fighting to keep living .” That even shock arman so terrified that his body felt numb.

One day On the 20th of march a whole ton of people gathered around the lake throwing half of their rubbish into the lake. Arman rushes back up to the surface of the sea once again and says a small speech to the people who were gathering around the lake.

The large gathering were so surprised and said, “who the hell are you!” “I’m a Merman” says Arman, “like any other,” he repeats out loud. “And I’ve heard rumours about all of you.” “You have been disrespecting this lake and some of the land too!” “You have been littering, throwing rubbish and other stuff into the lake.” “You guys don’t know how selfish you are all.” “You wouldn’t like it if you were a fish and live under the lake and see this disgusting, awful whole lot of rubbish wouldn’t ya!” The gathering nodded back saying they wouldn’t like it at all. “Then why are you doing it to us, says Arman disgracefully, it’s wrong and you have to make a change and think about your actions the next past days!” Says Arman, The crowd replies back, “We don’t like at all but there is no where else to throw our rubbish! Only in the lake!” Arman disappears once again into the lake.
The next day there was even more, more, more and more people from yesterday. The crowd had each a sign saying, “sorry Merman” Like if it was a protest, there was even the Mayor of the city! “Well” Says Arman, could I share you my speech. The crowd nodded back saying yes. “All of us” says Arman! “People, all of us, we’re one big family. The past years we have been littering on this earth which is a problem, especially here! We all have each other, and that our voices can be heard by making a change to littering! We have to keep fighting till the end and that each and one of us are special and that we care in this one and only planet.  God sent us here for this one life opportunity living on this beautiful earth and right now we are not treating the earth in a way that’s nice. We are all being selfish!” Says Arman. “but we can make a change to prevent it, and that we can earn our lives back on this earth for a second time if we do the right thing. We don’t choose how the journey starts, but we do get to choose how the journey ends .” A round of applause collapsed from the crowd and all in happiness and not a single smile raised down from the crowd. Arman suddenly felt proud in every sort of way!

             2 Years Later

Arman and his neighborhood and city have no rubbish now on the top of their sea surface. Arman was so proud that he rewarded something to each of the people in the city.

After Arman and his family and city once lives a happy life again.

My role in the production

This term is a big term because it's production term which our school is doing.

The production is about cinderella but a re-make story which means we have changed some parts in the story.

The production also needs lead role's and role's and in week 2 their was a trial for lead role's so I took a risk to try out.

I went to the second round of audition. my heart was pounding fast waiting for a lead spot in the production!

We heard who would be who, in the production as main characters, and I got chosen to be Cinderella's best friend as a main character, well on that day I was stocked to hear that I was a main character.

Well I'm pretty sure you want to know what Buttons does, well Button is basically Cinderella's best friend who is a (Male) (and that's a human being.)

Ive got a couple lines and for me its pretty hard to memorise but if you practice more often it will become a succesful performance.

On the 4th of July 2016 we performed our production Cinderella and Rockerfella and for me it was a big success. It was hard fitting six hundred kids from College Street onto the stage but we manage to do it.

Ricoh sevens day

On the 9th of September it was Ricoh tournament. The Ricoh tournament is where 5 sports are held in Palmerston North. the Sports are Rugby Sevens, 7 Aside Football, Hockey, Netball and Basketball. 5 schools represent Ricoh for each Sport. and before you get into a team you need to do a trial at your school.

I did a trial for Ricoh Sevens and I made through to the team. Before Ricoh we did some  Rugby trainings at lunch from 12:40pm to 1:15pm. It's so cool being a part of Ricoh and also representing  your school.

On 9th of September it was the big day, it was the Ricoh tournament! As soon as I jump out of bed I knew it was going to be a long day ahead of me since it was the Ricoh Tournament. I dress myself to get prepared and go to school. As soon as I arrive at school I say my last goodbyes to my family and friends. At 9:15 am we hop into the bus with all our Gear and Bags. When the Motor gets under way, the bus suddenly vanishes on the road without a single trace and we're off. When I walk off the bus my heart is pounding and blaring inside like if it was gonna pop out in any second.

We start our first game against Russell Street School, and first seconds of the game we score a trie made from Jamie in our team. After 3 minutes a young kid runs straight at me, after I managed to tackle him like yoghurt splitted onto the ground. At the end of the game we managed to thrash them 50-0. Our next game was against Hokowhitu School. I was running real hard onto the ball but when I was almost was at the trie line a heard a dong from the back of my leg (which was my hamstring.) and then I completely collapsed to the ground. I finished off the game but I wasn't in good conditions. The good news was that I didn't pull my hamstring but the bad news was I couldn't run or tackle because I would pull my hamstring. Well we made it all the way to the Final after the Quarter-finals and Semi Finals. I was so proud of my team that they won the Semi-Final but I would have wished if I could've gone on and play and be a part of the Final. At the end of the Final we partied so hard because we thrashed Cloverlea School 50-10.

After we went to a room for prize giving, to earn our trophies and certificates for the school's who won. Mrs Langley called up our Ricoh Sevens team to get presented the trophy that we won for Ricoh Sevens. But their was also an overall winner for Ricoh with all the other sports that was involved. We crossed our fingers to pray we would win that trophy. Mrs Langley called College Street Normal School out for the  Ricoh overall winner, and seconds later we stood up with happiness and joy.  Not a single smile raised down from College Street when we won the overall trophy. Anyways it wasn't a big surprise because we've won the trophy six times in a row ( including this time. )

After the Ricoh tournament we all returned back to school telling our friends what was over there and how we won the overall trophy and the Sevens trophy. We finished and returned home all drowsy and tired. At night we all slept tight in our warm beds and were waiting for the next day ahead of us.

Agency Explanation in our classroom

Definition of agency

This year in our class Grill 2.0, we’ve got an agency target on:
Learning spaces, Striving for Excellence, Collaboration, Managing and Designing my own Learning and Knowing Yourself as a Learner to help us develop agency. Agency is when we all make our own learning decisions that are best for us as learners. It enables us to know what our goals are and what we’ve achieved. The agency target is like a dartboard for you to aim your dart at to see what you need to work on to develop your agency.

Striving for Excellence

Striving For excellence is where you try your best at a task even if you don’t know but you still have a go. It is always giving your best effort.

For me Striving for Excellence, I would be near the red section because sometimes  I like to rush through my own learning and talk with my friends and don’t put in an honest effort.

Collaboration

Collaboration is about working as a team, which means you have to collaborate with each other. It is also about choosing to work with the right people for the learning task. Some people find it hard to collaborate with others which means you would be in the red section which is fine cause you have a goal to work on.

I would put myself on the green section because I like working as a team and building on other people’s ideas. I listen carefully to other people and give them feedback. Sometimes you would be off task when you’re in your group and not listening to other people’s ideas which means you're near the orange section.

Learning pit

One of my favourite ones is the learning pit. The Learning Pit is about how you cope with challenging tasks. It is about being confident to fail and take risks.

Here’s a photo for e.g.

Usually you're not in the learning pit if you say for e.g. “oh no this too hard I will just get someone else to do it for me. It also means you’re not falling in the learning pit, you’re just crossing the learning pit. If you do believe in yourself and that you can give it a go, you’re in the learning pit and trying hard to get to the other end and reach the top.

Learning Spaces

Learning Spaces is in our classroom in GRi11 2.0 where we have beanbags, couches, hammocks, furniture, wheely chairs and heaps more which are Learning spaces. As a class we’re very lucky to have these resources in our classrooms but we do have to remember to respect it because we came up with the idea to have an environmental classroom like this.

Usually in learning spaces you need to work on different tasks to make us great and successful learners. You might need to learn to not talk to your best mates in some spaces cause that will distract your learning and your mates learning too.
