My role in the production

This term is a big term because it's production term which our school is doing.

The production is about cinderella but a re-make story which means we have changed some parts in the story.

The production also needs lead role's and role's and in week 2 their was a trial for lead role's so I took a risk to try out.

I went to the second round of audition. my heart was pounding fast waiting for a lead spot in the production!

We heard who would be who, in the production as main characters, and I got chosen to be Cinderella's best friend as a main character, well on that day I was stocked to hear that I was a main character.

Well I'm pretty sure you want to know what Buttons does, well Button is basically Cinderella's best friend who is a (Male) (and that's a human being.)

Ive got a couple lines and for me its pretty hard to memorise but if you practice more often it will become a succesful performance.

On the 4th of July 2016 we performed our production Cinderella and Rockerfella and for me it was a big success. It was hard fitting six hundred kids from College Street onto the stage but we manage to do it.

Ricoh sevens day

On the 9th of September it was Ricoh tournament. The Ricoh tournament is where 5 sports are held in Palmerston North. the Sports are Rugby Sevens, 7 Aside Football, Hockey, Netball and Basketball. 5 schools represent Ricoh for each Sport. and before you get into a team you need to do a trial at your school.

I did a trial for Ricoh Sevens and I made through to the team. Before Ricoh we did some  Rugby trainings at lunch from 12:40pm to 1:15pm. It's so cool being a part of Ricoh and also representing  your school.

On 9th of September it was the big day, it was the Ricoh tournament! As soon as I jump out of bed I knew it was going to be a long day ahead of me since it was the Ricoh Tournament. I dress myself to get prepared and go to school. As soon as I arrive at school I say my last goodbyes to my family and friends. At 9:15 am we hop into the bus with all our Gear and Bags. When the Motor gets under way, the bus suddenly vanishes on the road without a single trace and we're off. When I walk off the bus my heart is pounding and blaring inside like if it was gonna pop out in any second.

We start our first game against Russell Street School, and first seconds of the game we score a trie made from Jamie in our team. After 3 minutes a young kid runs straight at me, after I managed to tackle him like yoghurt splitted onto the ground. At the end of the game we managed to thrash them 50-0. Our next game was against Hokowhitu School. I was running real hard onto the ball but when I was almost was at the trie line a heard a dong from the back of my leg (which was my hamstring.) and then I completely collapsed to the ground. I finished off the game but I wasn't in good conditions. The good news was that I didn't pull my hamstring but the bad news was I couldn't run or tackle because I would pull my hamstring. Well we made it all the way to the Final after the Quarter-finals and Semi Finals. I was so proud of my team that they won the Semi-Final but I would have wished if I could've gone on and play and be a part of the Final. At the end of the Final we partied so hard because we thrashed Cloverlea School 50-10.

After we went to a room for prize giving, to earn our trophies and certificates for the school's who won. Mrs Langley called up our Ricoh Sevens team to get presented the trophy that we won for Ricoh Sevens. But their was also an overall winner for Ricoh with all the other sports that was involved. We crossed our fingers to pray we would win that trophy. Mrs Langley called College Street Normal School out for the  Ricoh overall winner, and seconds later we stood up with happiness and joy.  Not a single smile raised down from College Street when we won the overall trophy. Anyways it wasn't a big surprise because we've won the trophy six times in a row ( including this time. )

After the Ricoh tournament we all returned back to school telling our friends what was over there and how we won the overall trophy and the Sevens trophy. We finished and returned home all drowsy and tired. At night we all slept tight in our warm beds and were waiting for the next day ahead of us.

(Here is a picture of me on the right and Cooper  on the left at the Ricoh tournament. )

Agency Explanation in our classroom

Definition of agency

This year in our class Grill 2.0, we’ve got an agency target on:
Learning spaces, Striving for Excellence, Collaboration, Managing and Designing my own Learning and Knowing Yourself as a Learner to help us develop agency. Agency is when we all make our own learning decisions that are best for us as learners. It enables us to know what our goals are and what we’ve achieved. The agency target is like a dartboard for you to aim your dart at to see what you need to work on to develop your agency.

Striving for Excellence

Striving For excellence is where you try your best at a task even if you don’t know but you still have a go. It is always giving your best effort.

For me Striving for Excellence, I would be near the red section because sometimes  I like to rush through my own learning and talk with my friends and don’t put in an honest effort.

Collaboration

Collaboration is about working as a team, which means you have to collaborate with each other. It is also about choosing to work with the right people for the learning task. Some people find it hard to collaborate with others which means you would be in the red section which is fine cause you have a goal to work on.

I would put myself on the green section because I like working as a team and building on other people’s ideas. I listen carefully to other people and give them feedback. Sometimes you would be off task when you’re in your group and not listening to other people’s ideas which means you're near the orange section.

Learning pit

One of my favourite ones is the learning pit. The Learning Pit is about how you cope with challenging tasks. It is about being confident to fail and take risks.

Here’s a photo for e.g.

Usually you're not in the learning pit if you say for e.g. “oh no this too hard I will just get someone else to do it for me. It also means you’re not falling in the learning pit, you’re just crossing the learning pit. If you do believe in yourself and that you can give it a go, you’re in the learning pit and trying hard to get to the other end and reach the top.

Learning Spaces

Learning Spaces is in our classroom in GRi11 2.0 where we have beanbags, couches, hammocks, furniture, wheely chairs and heaps more which are Learning spaces. As a class we’re very lucky to have these resources in our classrooms but we do have to remember to respect it because we came up with the idea to have an environmental classroom like this.

Usually in learning spaces you need to work on different tasks to make us great and successful learners. You might need to learn to not talk to your best mates in some spaces cause that will distract your learning and your mates learning too.

Father's day piece of Writing

On the 4th of September it was Father's Day and of course all of us love our Father's so much and are all important to all of us. In Gri11 2.0 we had to right for Father's Day writing, a Description a Recount or a Procedure, and today I have Recount on a moment I had with my Dad.

On the 15th of May 2016 my Dad and I went down Rangitikei Street in Palmerston North. We went to Rebel Sport, Stirling sports, and Kelly shoes to fit some rugby boots for the season. It was the first time going out in town with my Dad having a great time together.

We bought some shiny new boots, and went back home. During the day my Dad and I Played Chess and Rummikub. He always made me win the rounds when we were playing chess. In the afternoon the sun comes down and twilight starts to fall .

We have some family time in our kitchen having a drink and eating some food. My Dad had a surprise before we went to go off to bed. He said “tonight we’re not going to bed, tonight we’re going to watch All Blacks vs Wales.”  I was so stoked to hear of what he just said. Suddenly my jaw drops to the ground.  I couldn’t wait another minute to enjoy watching some rugby with my Dad for the first time.

We watch the first  half of the rugby cheering for the All Blacks. Two minutes later Julian Savea scores a spectacular try.

Dad and I were celebrating and having a great time watching rugby. When the game finished the All Blacks won against Wales 46-6. I was so glad that the All Blacks had won.

I was so thankful for Dad because I had never watched an All blacks game with him ever before, and it was so cool to have one on one experience watching a rugby game together.

The next morning as soon as I woke up I thanked Dad for what he did yesterday and last night.

Thanks for being a great Dad and I hope you enjoyed the recount. Xoxoxoxoxox

In the schools of Luxembourg

The Luxembourg constitution allows the state to organise education. This means most schools are public and tuitions do not have to be paid. There are, some schools that are private schools that follow a similar programme.

The president of Luxembourg is Jean-claude juncker he was born December the 9th 1954 and is the age of 61 years old.

The production

On the 4th of July 2016 we performed our production Cinderella and Rockerfella and for me it was a big success.

Usually I rehearsed couple of times to practice but since I've gotten even better at my role I"m gonna make it even better tonight.

As I slowly creep back stage my heart pounds a million miles an hour like a plane zooming at full speed and not seeing it with a single trace.

I suddenly realize that I'm very nervous that i'm trembling like an earthquake. I get given my microphone and start warming up to get on stage excited and ready to go.

As soon as I walk up on stage my heart stops beating. I see a whole bunch of people in the crowd but now its my time to shine.  I think to myself "come on Hyacinthe this is what you have been practicing for this whole time."

I finally say my first two lines and then as soon i said my lines i got straight into it.

Overall i had a great time at the production and the production could've been done without the teachers.
